Has your group or organisation had a valuable impact in improving the environment? The Tasmanian Environment Protection Agency (EPA) is calling for nominations for the EPA Sustainability Award.
The EPA Sustainability Award, which is part of the greater Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards, is an opportunity to recognise the practical efforts being made within Tasmania to promote environmental sustainability. Hosted by Awards Australia, the award is one of the many categories that aim to recognise individuals, businesses and groups that are making a difference in their communities across Tasmania.
Tasmanian EPA Director, Mr Wes Ford said the Sustainability Award is “interested in showcasing projects and initiatives that have delivered measurable improvements in preventing pollution, conserving energy and water, minimising waste and maximising resource efficiency.”
In 2021, the award went to Neville Smith Forest Products Pty Ltd of Mowbray for their diversion of timber processing residue from landfill through the creation of bioenergy heating pellets. Pellet heating technology provides both environmental and cost benefits due to its ability to capture harmful emissions as soot whilst also being a highly efficient heating method.
Nominations are open until Wednesday 17 August 2022, and the winners will be announced at a Gala presentation on Friday 28 October 2022.
