About
SORT Recycling Limited is a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to enhance recycling, to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and, along the way, to create new jobs.We operate out of small recycling facilities at the heart of the community, close to where the waste is generated. Our aim is to cut down the transport of waste and to return the value of the waste streams to the community that generated them. Ar Sort Recycling Burnie we are currently recycling E-Waste items i.e. computers, monitors, keyboards, mice etc. We are also running an upcycling program making jewellery and craft items out of unwanted goods. A specific program is a small recycling program for books that would other wise end up in landfill.

Additional information: Crates of books are collected from St Vincent de Paul's and the Salvation Army that were bound for the tip. All books are carefully sorted. The better quality books are then redistributed to two of the local community houses, the local hospital and the Lion's Club, a local community organisation Produce to the People etc. The books that are not good enough to be redistributed are then shredded and remade into paper, paper seed envelopes, envelopes, seed pots etc. Most of this is then redistributed to other community organisations.
