E-waste is a hot topic! Plant Ark's RecyclingNearYou and BusinessRecycling websites receive hundreds of thousands of visits each year from residents and business wanting to know how and where to recycle their old computers and TVs and other e-waste.
Outside of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NCTRS) many other recyclers are providing ways to keep e-waste out of landfill and extend the range of e-waste that can be recycled beyond the TVs, Computers & Peripherals offered by the scheme. Recovery of valuable materials for recycling makes the collection and processing of e-waste financially viable and reduces the need to get these materials from virgin sources.
Storage King stores across the country offer a simple and easy e-waste box scheme. The box is purchased by customers taken home and filled with unwanted e-waste items and then returned to the store for pick up by the recycler Ecoactiv.
A great collaboration between Storage King, Ecoactiv and MobileMuster is happening at the Sustainable Living Festival in Melbourne on the 12th & 13th of February, to jointly promote the importance of responsible recycling for e-waste, batteries and mobiles.
As part of the activities they're running two free workshops on practical solutions for 'how to go e-waste free' in the workplace.
This is great opportunity for businesses to find out how to implement long term solutions for managing their e-waste in a cost effective and responsible manner.
