Recently I wrote about my favourite podcasts and how I love them for bringing sustainability and environmental information into my daily life in an entertaining way. Here though, I wanted to talk about a recent find of mine that is also giving me a daily eco-nudge – the Today We Will Newsletter.

After stumbling upon a write-up of this fab service in a magazine I was recently browsing online (yes, online – my days of print magazines are pretty much over as discussed in a previous post), I subscribed straight away.

The not-for-profit newsletter, delivered every weekday, is a perfect morsel of achievable action, presenting – in four sentences or less – a completely doable and empowering sustainability tip or hack.  Each tip comes with a ‘Why’ and a ‘How’, so that you are not only nudged, but you are also informed. Their tag line is ‘one task, for one day, done by all’ and they commit to not being political, not asking for donations, and to never sell anything.

A recent favourite tip (which had truly never occurred to me but now seems SO obvious) was, in an uncarpeted room, to sweep first, before vacuuming, so that you can then just vacuum up the pile of dirt (if you need to vacuum at all – a dust pan may be all you need).

I love those little tips and I love that by subscribing to them, they are drip fed directly to me in a way that is not overwhelming. By coming one at a time, I can digest each one, think about it and put it into action pretty much straight away and be ready and waiting for the next one!

Penned by Olivia Gossett Cooper, an ex-advertising creative who is now completing an MBA in Sustainability, the newsletter also comes in a version designed for businesses and their employees, with everyday tips specific - and relevant - to the industry they are in. I think that concept is genius, especially as it has been demonstrated that when businesses undertake ‘green’ initiatives, they have a higher employee retention rate and undoubtedly the employees themselves will feel good about their actions and know that they are making a difference.

Today We Will Newsletter is also on Instagram and Facebook.

See you next time! - Elise
