Department of Environment and Resource Management QLD

The Queensland Government is proud to be a foundation partner with Planet Ark's Business Recycling website. The website helps businesses identify and access local recycling services and, ultimately, improve their waste management practices and reduce costs.
Queensland's population is projected to increase by 30 per cent by 2026, to almost six million people. Now is the time to change from being waste generators to a community that reduces, reuses and recycles all possible materials. Helping make business and industry more efficient, and reducing their waste generation, are key aspects of the Department of Environment and Resource Management's new waste reforms.
As part of introducing the new waste strategy, the government is re-investing significant funding to support business, industry and local government to:
- improve their waste management performance
- increase their resource efficiency
- minimise their exposure to the levy on waste disposed to landfill, which commences on 1 December 2011
Planet Ark's business recycling website plays a key role in supporting the Department's plan to inform and empower business to identify their own local solutions.
The Department is offering a range of funding programs to support recycling, market development, and waste or recycling infrastructure across Queensland.
