Seminar to Maximise Timber Recycling in NSW

The NSW Timber Development Association and the NSW Environment Protection Authority present Maximising Timber Recycling; a free seminar for generators, recyclers and users of waste commercial and industrial (C&I) timber.
The seminar will feature a detailed presentation by Geraldine Busby, Coordinator Sales and Product Development at Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC). EMRC’s Hazelmere Recycling Centre is the only timber recycling operation in Western Australia that is diverting significant timber waste from landfill. Opened in 2008, it develops markets and supplies products for the landscape, particleboard and animal husbandry industries. It has recently undertaken a major machinery purchase and commissioning process.
Geraldine will present on the Centre’s experience in the following areas:
- Selection and operation of machinery
- Staff supervision and training
- Day to day operation
- Quality Assurance /Quality Control processes including handling of Copper Chrome Arsenate (CCA) and H2F “bluepine” treated timber
- Developing and meeting customer requirements
- Sampling and analysis
Stephen Mitchell from the NSW Timber Development Association will take attendees through Quality Assurance / Quality Control guidelines developed for NSW recyclers of end-of-life wood for use as poultry bedding.
