As the year draws to a close take a look around your office to see the little piles of redundant tech items gathering dust?

It is easier than you might think to de-clutter your office, to get most of these items recycled and, to make the news even better, most of the recycling can be done for FREE!

Here’s our tips for giving your old resources new life, keeping in budget and doing something positive for the environment in your workplace:

  • Our friends a TechCollect have come up with the brilliant ‘Waste Not, Want Not Day’ on Thursday 8th December. You can book a FREE pick-up for eligible items (see website for conditions and further information) including: Computers and tablets, Computer peripherals and accessories, Printers, faxes, scanners and multifunctional devices and TVs.
  • Alternatively, if you’re in a small business, you can search our BusinessRecycling website for other FREE drop off locations under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme or to search for organisations who will accept e-waste items not covered by the scheme. Depending on your location and the quantity you may find a free service.
  • Old mobile phones and their accessories can easily be recycled through our friends MobileMuster. Find drop-off location near you or follow the links on the page and sign your workplace a collection point.
  • If you’ve got used or obsolete printer cartridges lying around (whether they’re empty or full) ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ can help. If you just have a couple you can drop them at one of more than 4,000 locations around  the country or if you go through more than three participating brand cartridges a month (or the supporting brands) you could get your own collection box. Best of all it’s FREE as the participating manufacturers – Brother, Canon, Epson, HP, Konica Minolta and Kyocera – cover the costs.

Modern workplaces can’t operate without technology, which inevitably become obsolete. Thankfully there are more ways then ever to stop these useful resources going to waste and recycling in the workplace is becoming a day-to-day practice thanks to schemes like those mentioned above.
