Rebates for QLD Recycling Bins and Signs

Date: 20-Dec-11
Author: Zhi Yan

To help businesses improve in-house waste management, the Queensland Government has introduced the reThink Business Waste Equipment Program. In a nutshell, this rebage program helps eligible businesses to purchase recycling collection bins and information signs.

The rebate is available to eligible Queensland businesses that purchase bin equipment and awareness-raising material from the reThink Business Waste equipment catalogue hosted on the Local Buy website.  These items are designed to help businesses implement effective resource recovery systems in their daily operations to divert waste material from landfill.

Eligible businesses can apply for a 40 per cent rebate against the total cost of the items purchased from the catalogue (excluding freight), up to a rebate limit of $1000. A minimum rebate amount has been set at $80, which means that the total cost of the items purchased must be at least $200 in order to apply for the minimum rebate of $80.

This program is part of the reThink Business Waste program for business, which is already offering $750 subsidies to businesses that review their waste operations and set up new arrangements to recycle more.  The reThink Business Waste program is devoted to practical support for business and is a strong contributor to the waste management improvements that are a key objective for Industry Waste Levy funds.
