Training For NSW Facility Workers & Bin Trim Program

NSW Facility Worker Training

The Waste Contractors & Recyclers Association of NSW (WCRA) is pleased to deliver the next in a series of workshops to introduce a Waste & Resource Recovery Facility Workers Manual to benefit waste management facility workers, waste and resource recovery educators and managers. Sessions will be held on

  • Thursday, 15 May 2014 in Tamworth
  • Thursday, 22 May 2014 in Wollongong and
  • Friday, 6 June 2014 in Kirribilli in Sydney

Learning Outcomes

  • An awareness and understanding of current waste and resource recovery policies, practices and
  • Relevant environmental and health and safety legislation; and
  • Improved knowledge to assist workers to increase the quality/quantity of materials recovered.

The workshop content will specifically cover issues such as

  • Waste classification
  • Waste avoidance and resource recovery legislation
  • Effective resource recovery
  • Site management and operations
  • Signage
  • Environmental management OH&S regulations and practices as it relates to a waste and resource recovery facility

Who should attend?

Waste Management & Recycling Industry personnel (including Local Government personnel) with responsibility for operations, supervision, sales, compliance, resource recovery, waste educators, charity collections, depot activities, weighbridge, facility workers, etc, at waste management & resource recovery facilities across NSW.

Helping Business Recycle Training

WCRA is also running training for councils and the recycling industry to provide staff with the right tools to assist their business clients to use the EPA's Bin Trim program to reduce waste and recycle more.

Learning Outcomes

After attending this training session it is expected that participants will be able to:

  • Assist a business to do a visual waste assessment using Bin Trim
  • Assist a business to develop an action plan to reduce waste and increase recycling using Bin Trim 
  • Support a business to introduce new recycling services including advice on equipment, services and staff engagement 
  • Monitor and review progress being made by a business owner to reduce waste and increase recycling

The sessions will be held on

  • Friday, 2 May 2014 in Western Sydney and
  • Friday 9th May in Coffs Harbour
