Mustering 1,000 Tonnes of Mobiles
Date: 29-May-13
MobileMuster's latest Annual Report reveals that more than 1,000 tonnes of old mobile phones, batteries, chargers and accessories have been collected and recycled since its inception in 1998 - keeping them out of landfill. A fantastic result!
And all of this with a recovery rate of 93% - that means 93% of everything they collect has been recycled into new and useful materials. In 2011-12 these recycled materials replaced the need to mine at least 1,165 tonnes of precious metal ores of gold, silver and copper, as well as iron ore, aluminum and other metals.
All data is destroyed during the recycling process.
Recycling your old mobile, chargers and batteries through MobileMuster is easy and free:
- Drop-off it off at your nearest collection point;
- Pick up a reply-paid satchel at any Australia Post store; or
- Register your workplace as a collection point.
