Reducing business waste is a key focus for NSW. Waste from the commercial, industrial, construction and demolition sectors makes up 68 per cent of the waste going to landfill. In NSW there are 670,000 small businesses employing 96 per cent of all workers, producing waste every day.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA) is committed to helping everyone in NSW make sustainability a part of their daily lives. We partner with businesses of all sizes, industry leaders, government agencies and non-government organisations to improve the health of our environment.

We are proud to be a foundation partner of Planet Ark's BusinessRecycling.com.au that will help businesses reduce waste, improve recycling and recovery of valuable resources.

Other NSW Government programs such as Sustainability Advantage and Energy Efficiency for Business support small, medium and large organisations to strengthen their environmental performance, including reducing workplace waste, water and energy resources.

By promoting sustainable business practices, the NSW Government is also helping businesses to remain competitive and resource efficient.
